Who We Are

About Us – Mending Broken Wings

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." – Psalm 147:3

Mending Broken Wings is a Christ-centered life coaching and outreach ministry dedicated to helping individuals find their identity, healing, and purpose through the redeeming love of Jesus. Our mission is rooted not in religion or denomination, but in a relationship with Christ. We hold no formal church affiliation, but our foundational beliefs are found in  the Apostles’ Creed, a declaration of faith uniting Christians since the fourth century.

At the core of this ministry is Jake Tjapkes, a Christian Life Coach with a testimony of deep transformation. Jake’s life story includes surviving sexual abuse, walking through the pain of adoption trauma, and being delivered from the bondage of homosexuality. His past was marked by brokenness, but his future was rewritten by the power of God's grace.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” – 2 Corinthians 3:17

In 2024, Jake married his incredible wife, Megan. Over their first year together, they’ve grown in faith, perseverance, and love becoming a testimony of God’s restoration in marriage and purpose. Now, Jake is boldly answering the call to reach others with the same hope that saved him. He’s passionate about calling men back to godly leadership, women to biblical honor, and families back to Christ’s design.

"Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain." – Psalm 127:1

Mending Broken Wings stands firm in a generation that has lost its way. They believe that the spiritual crisis in our culture isn’t just in our churches It’s in our homes. It’s in fathers who’ve never learned to lead, wives unsure how to follow, and children who’ve forgotten how to honor their parents (Exodus 20:12).

Jake’s cry is simple yet urgent: Now is the time to rise up!!

Our identity is not defined by our trauma, our past, or the lies of the world but by the cross of Christ. “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” – Galatians 2:20. This is the heartbeat of Mending Broken Wings: helping men and women discover who they are in Christ and teaching them how to walk boldly in that truth.

Through donation-based Christian Life Coaching a rare, one in a-million model we offer spiritual guidance, trauma-informed support, marriage and identity coaching, and biblical mentorship to individuals and families across all walks of life. We trust God to provide for the ministry so no one is turned away for financial reasons.

Our vision is clear:
To see every person healed, every family restored, and every leader rise.
To help people walk in truth, live in freedom, and embrace their God given identity.
To remind the world that even broken wings can fly again through the healing hands of Christ.

"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you."

 Isaiah 60:1

Our Beliefs

At Mending Broken Wings, our beliefs are rooted in the transformative power of the Gospel and the guidance of Scripture. We believe that God has a unique plan for every life, and it is through a deep understanding of our identity in Christ, the importance of education, and the call to global missions that we can bring healing and restoration to the broken world around us.

Our Identity in Christ
We believe that our true identity is found in Christ alone. As men and women created in His image, we are called to live out our unique roles and purposes with dignity, strength, and grace. In Christ, we are made whole, redeemed, and empowered to fulfill the calling God has placed on our lives.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

The Importance of Education and Training
We believe that true transformation begins with the renewal of the mind, which comes through education, wisdom, and discipline. Knowledge is not only power but a tool for breaking the chains of poverty, ignorance, and despair. Through education and proper training, we can walk in righteousness and bring about lasting change in our lives and communities. We recognize that part of this education involves rebuking false mindsets and embracing the fullness of God’s truth.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” – Proverbs 9:10

Our Call to Global Missions
We believe that the Great Commission is not only a command but a privilege. As followers of Christ, we are called to go into all the world, preach the Gospel, and make disciples of every nation. Part of this mission is bringing healing and revival to those who are broken, both physically and spiritually. We are called to bring the message of salvation, healing, and restoration through the power of the Holy Spirit.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” – Matthew 28:19
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free…” – Luke 4:18
